Practitioner notes on orchestration, AI, and the abstractions under pressure.

Hi 👋, I’m Constance!

I’m a Staff PM at Astronomer, where I work on Apache Airflow across the OSS roadmap and the enterprise product built on top of it. Airflow is one of those projects where the open source and commercial sides are genuinely entangled, and that intersection is where most of the interesting problems live. I’ve been here long enough to have shaped a few of those problems, and to have formal contributor credit on the project itself.

My background is technical, and it shapes how I approach product. I tend to think in systems: not just what a feature should do, but where a property actually belongs in the model and what gets harder to fix if you draw the boundary in the wrong place. That instinct shows up in Airflow architecture decisions, but also in the bigger questions I find myself paying attention to: what AI is actually changing about how pipelines are built and operated, how orchestration primitives need to evolve as the inputs get less deterministic, whether the abstractions we have today will hold.

This is where the thinking that doesn’t fit a slide deck or a proposal goes when it crystallizes into something worth keeping. I’m based in Montreal, I speak at conferences, and I have strong opinions about workflow orchestration that I try to earn rather than just assert.
